BF Skyphos – Dionysiac Revel Scene

from THETIS cabinet (one-of-a-kind) Black-figure skyphos with Dionysiac scene, Archaic Period, ca. 520–500 BCE. Two figures surge across the terracotta ground of this lively skyphos — satyrs or komasts caught mid-revel, arms outstretched, bodies tilted with the particular abandon of the Dionysiac world. The vessel's distinctive pairing of handles — one horizontal, one vertical — gives it an immediacy in the hand that a symmetrical cup lacks.
