Grape: Chardonnay Country: Italy Region: Franciacorta Farming: Biodynamic Although a complicated vintage, this for the farm is their best in the last 25 years. 10 months in Barrel followed by 56 months on the lees, from a selection of the Chardonnay plots. In 1994 Flavio and Antonio established Ca del Vent right at the periphery of Franciacorta, on the rich clay and limestone hills. With little money to invest, the winery worked very simply. As time went on their interest in Biodynamic farming, energy and viticulture grew. There the focus has been on producing the finest quality sparkling wine in Italy. Greatly inspired by the grower Champagne movement. All wines are fermented and aged in barrel and then lees ageing is dependant on the vintage but can be anything up to 8 years. Do not think of these wines as Franciacorta, they are genuinely in a world of their own.
