Honey from bees kept in an orchard, Ketford, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire
This honey has a milder flavour note to it with a gentle sweet hit and hints of caramel - see what you think. It comes from the hives that Marcus keeps in an apple orchard a short drive from his home through wonderful small windy lanes in the Gloucestershire countryside. Not only do the bees have the orchard to forage on, but also the surrounding trees and wildflowers along the stream behind them. Marcus is retired now, having been an engineer. He started beekeeping keen to do his bit to help our bee populations survive and stay strong. He works with other local beekeepers to try and breed stronger more resilient bees, and judging by the bee activity around the hives in the spring sunshine he was doing a good job!
