Enzo Favata’s Atlantico quintet explores the space where jazz, chamber music and improvisation meet. Led by Sardinian saxophonist and clarinettist Enzo Favata, with long-time collaborator Marcello Peghin (guitar), Daniel Di Bonaventura (bandoneon), Salvatore Maltana (double bass) and UT Gandhi (drums), the group creates a richly coloured acoustic sound world shaped by travel, memory and imagination. On Ritornare, Favata’s first recording for ECM, the quintet draws on the traditional musical dialects of Southern Italy and the Mediterranean, alongside the cultural crossings of the Atlantic and literary visions of Gabriel García Márquez and Jorge Luis Borges. Lyrical reeds, graceful guitar, evocative bandoneon and subtle rhythm interplay create music of dream-like flow, where melodies emerge, transform and unfold through natural dialogue and discovery.
