The "Dove of Peace" Weather Vane

The "Dove of Peace" Weather Vane was commissioned by George Washington in 1787 and fabricated by architect Joseph Rakestraw. The Design features a copper gilded dove holding an olive branch in its beak. Washington selected this design over a traditional arrow vane, stating: "I should like to have a bird with an olive branch in its mouth..." This greeting card was designed by our own William Muller and then foil stamped and embossed on fine heavy weight paper in our studio in Easthampton, Massachusetts. This card features a embossed foil stamped cover and letterpress reverse and is blank inside. This is an A2 sized card measuring 4.25" x 5.5"
