Marqués de Burgos Ribera del Duero Roble (Spain)

Rioja lover looking to branch out? Get a load of this punchy, modern Ribera made from 100% Tempranillo, just a 2 hour drive south of Rioja. This has plenty of power and a deep, oaky flavour, lifted by bright ripe fruit and balancing acidity. Roble is the second youngest oak-ageing category for Spanish red wine (after 'Joven', which means unoaked). This means that this wine has been aged for 6 months in oak, imparting a distinct smoky finish without overpowering the fruit flavours. The winemaker chose the site for this wine on a hot-air balloon flight! He was struck by the beauty of the vineyards along the Duero River, which provide stunning growing conditions.
