Bump Keys rely on the orchestration of several elements to be effective. Crucial to performance is the percussive tool: not enough force, the key displaces the key pins, rather than communicating the inertia through to the driver pins. Too much force can damage the lock and key, and also transmit lateral shock, which hinders pin movement. The Sparrows Bump Hammer has been tuned to have the ideal amount of mass for bumping, with a semi-rigid spine for rapid recoil, allowing for rapid-bumping without damaging the lock or the key.
