Succade – an In-person Masterclass at Janome HQ, October 23rd

This is an in-person workshop held at Janome UK HQ. The workshop consists of a one-hour ‘Get Ready!’ session via zoom a month before the workshop to discuss the pattern, colour, templates and what prep you can do, followed by a full day at Janome UK HQ, in their purpose-built training facility in Stockport. The ‘Get Ready!’ session will be recorded for you to watch again. Times and Location (Note the two different meeting times and dates): Get Ready! – Monday, September 14th, 7-8pm (via zoom) Workshop – Friday, October 23rd, 10am-4pm (Janome UK HQ, Unit 1 Southside, Bredbury, Stockport SK6 2SP) Learning objectives: In this workshop we’ll be playing with my latest quilt, the Succade Quilt (succade – candied or crystallised fruit). We will look at what colour combinations enhance the transparency, sew orange-peel blocks, cut them up and reassemble into three different block versions. The techniques used to create this block will help you elevate your curve and precision piecing and give you the knowledge to create your own transparency blocks. If you enjoy making these graphic and modern 7” blocks you might choose to make more and create a 42” quilt. The blocks can be made using the PSS custom acrylic templates* or the paper templates included with this pattern. Included: •One hour prep session (via zoom) •In-person workshop •Lunch* •PDF paper templates for you to print •PDF of the Succade Quilt pattern 42” •The recording of the prep session Supplies list: •Quality fine sewing thread (40 or 50wt) in neutral or to match your project •Cutting mat •Rotary cutter •Long gridded ruler •Pins •Seam ripper •Access to a printer (for the paper templates) OR my Acrylic templates* Level: Suitable for intermediate quilters but adventurous beginners should also feel encouraged to join. No previous curve experience is required but general quilting knowledge is assumed (how to use a rotary cutter, sew with an accurate seam allowance etc) and an affection for precision will surely help. Cancellation and refund policy for Janome Masterclasses: Janome Masterclass payments are non-refundable. If an individual wishes to cancel a Masterclass and written cancellation notice is received at least 28 days before the start date a refund of 25% will be made. Masterclasses at Janome have a minimum required attendance level. If insufficient bookings are received, Janome reserve the right to cancel or postpone the Masterclass. If Janome cancels a Masterclass, Janome shall endeavour to provide at least one week’s notice. If a transfer is not available, the full cost will be refunded. Janome cannot be held liable for any losses arising from such a cancellation *The Complete and the Multiple Drunkard’s Path sets are used for this design. There will also be instructions on how to make the Complete set redundant and use only the Multiple DP set to do all the cutting. **Refreshments and a light buffet lunch with a vegetarian option, will be available.Unfortunately, special dietary requirements are not catered for. Should you wish please bring your own lunch which can be refrigerated on arrival.
