Identity Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Lady Ref. 260.5.86, 18-carat yellow gold and steel, 1990s. Manual-winding mechanical movement, calibre 846/1. Steel case with reversible 18-carat yellow gold frame, 20 × 33 mm, fluted gold crown. Monochrome silver dial, Arabic numerals, railway minute track, blued glaive hands. Sapphire crystal. Leather strap, signed steel folding clasp. Horological context The Reverso was born in 1931, designed for British officers playing polo in India: its case slides and flips within its cradle to protect the crystal from impacts. The design, with its rectangular lines and three gadroons framing the dial, is a pure expression of the Art déco style. Produced for a time, then relaunched in the 1980s, the Reverso has become one of Jaeger-LeCoultre's emblems, declined in many sizes, from the Lady model to grand complications, and its blank back lends itself to engraved arms, initials or enamel. Character The smooth gold caseback invites personalisation, by engraving or initials. Flipped over, the watch offers the protection first imagined for polo players. Serviced. Very good condition. Supplied with the maker's box and the 24-month Contre-Temps warranty certificate.
