Serelepe and Pop&Jazz Orquestra release 'Sotaques', album celebrating 40 years of the Espírito Santo big band VINYL NOW IN STOCK! In an unprecedented meeting between Northeastern forró and the tradition of jazz big bands, the musical project Serelepe joins forces with the Pop&Jazz Orquestra to release Sotaques—the first album in the history of this Espírito Santo ensemble. The work also celebrates the 40-year journey of Pop&Jazz, finally capturing on record the sound built over decades of musician training and strengthening the Brazilian instrumental scene. Idealized by artist and music producer Luccas Martins, the album proposes a fusion of forró pé-de-serra with the sonic universe of big bands. The tracks combine traditional forró instruments like accordion and pífano with the power of horns and jazz-tinged arrangements, while preserving the danceable rhythms and everyday narratives present in Northeastern music. Sotaques brings together eight tracks and features over 55 instrumentalists, exploring a sonic diversity with instruments such as vibraphone, tuba, rabeca, berimbau, and cuíca. The record also includes special guest appearances from Lia de Itamaracá, Ricardo Herz, Trio Macaíba, Eloá Puri, Mestre Lua de Olinda, André Prando, and Douglas Lopes. The project stands out for its aesthetic care as well. The graphic art was designed by Giulyanna Cipriano, inspired by the language of Northeastern cordel literature, and illustrated by Espírito Santo artist Manel Fogo. This is the special edition LP, pressed in Germany and distributed by LÔA Discos, featuring photos and text by journalist and music researcher José Roberto Santos Neves about the Pop&Jazz Orquestra's trajectory. The album was made possible with resources from the Musical Production Grant of the Espírito Santo State Culture Fund (Funcultura), through the Secretary of Culture (Secult).
