Two Georgian silver buttons. c1820 Underhill Family. IS maker.
Two related silver buttons. The first bears the crest of the Underhill family (Staffordshire / later Warwickshire) and the other the head of a fox. Both are by the same maker IS (John Shaw) and have the sterling silver mark of a lion but no date letter. In good condition- the one with the crest is very slightly larger. 24mm and 22mm in diameter. NB. A descendant of the Underhill family wrote a book on fox hunting 'A Century of English Fox Hunting' c1900. Stock no. LS36/7
