It’s Okay – She Said
This portrait was created during the EXTERNAL Iran project after an unexpected encounter in a small village on Qeshm Island. While photographing the streets, I was repeatedly discouraged from making portraits. Moments later, Fatemeh stepped outside wearing her traditional clothing and quietly gave permission with a simple sentence: “It’s okay.” Rather than documenting only a person, the photograph reflects trust, dignity and the brief human connection that made the image possible. It stands as a reminder that meaningful portraits are built on respect before they are built with a camera. Archival Pigment Print on Fine Art Paper 70 × 100 cms 2024 Unframed Limited Edition of 100
