From the 1970’s, this is a small pewter vase with a handle showing the Bridal scene called “The Queen’s Journey”, depicting the travels of Margaret, Maid of Norway around 1290. With two panels repeated twice, it shows Margaret on horseback accompanied by musicians, and the other panel shows her continuing her Bridal journey by boat. Margaret tragically die in Orkney before arriving at her destination in England. More can be read about Margaret here. The vase was designed by Astri Holthe, a Norwegian metalsmith and jewelry designer. Underneath is stamped with “H Norsk Tinn Pewter”. We found this item in Nittedal which is an hours drive north of Oslo. It was sadly damaged a little in shipping from Norway. We’ve tried to show the small scratches on one side of the neck and a dent in the side. The vase stands 6.25″ tall and is 2.5″ in diameter. It weighs 6 ounces.
