UTR-FA16 — Apple-Catechin Filter (particle capture) Rheem describes this filter simply: it uses static electricity to clean fine particles and dust from the air. The media is treated with catechin, a polyphenol antioxidant derived from apples, which absorbs fine dust, invisible mold spores, and harmful micro-organisms while inhibiting and deactivating their growth on the filter surface. This is a disposable filter — it should not be washed and is recommended for replacement every 3 months. UTR-FA16-2 — Ion Deodorization Filter (odor control) Rheem describes this filter as deodorizing by powerfully decomposing absorbed odors using the oxidizing and reducing effects of ions generated by an ultra-fine-particle ceramic. Unlike the Apple-Catechin filter, this one is washable and reusable — Rheem notes it can be used for approximately 3 years if washed with water when dirty to restore its surface action.
