Melaleuca bracteata 'Sunglow'

Melaleuca bracteata 'Sunglow' is a fountain of light: the Australian black tea-tree in a golden-leaved form, its fine, feathery foliage glowing chartreuse-gold from spring to frost. The texture reads like the softest conifer, but the colour and the small cream brush flowers in summer are pure Antipodean exotic.Rated H3, it grows to around 2-3 m in mild, coastal and sheltered gardens, and makes a radiant container shrub anywhere. Unusually for an Australian it tolerates damper soil than most, taking after its creek-bed ancestors, while crushed foliage releases a clean tea-tree aroma.How and where to grow Position: full sun for the strongest gold. Soil: free-draining but moisture tolerant; unfussy. Size: to 2-3 m; trims easily after flowering. Hardiness: H3, around -5C established.
