They are various masked ancestral spirits who come during Hopi religious dances. The Hopi Clown Katsina is a sacred, ceremonial clown who does amusing things like making fun of the dancers, among other antics. Adrian Leon's small-scale Hopi Clown Katsina doll is carved from cottonwood and decorated with acrylic paints, feathers, cloth, embroidery thread and a small wooden bead. Including base, dimensions are approximately 2 7/8" tall, 1 1/8" wide and 1 1/4" deep. Signed by the artist.
