the freedom chair is composed of five soft volumes that stay visibly separate, a deep cushioned seat, a curved backrest that sweeps around one side, and two rounded arms that lean outward instead of closing in. nothing about the composition is symmetrical, the back rises higher on one side than the other and the arms sit at different angles, so the chair holds a sense of ease even before anyone sits in it. each volume is generously padded and rounded at every edge, and the gaps between them are left open rather than filled, so the seat appears to float between the arms and the back rather than be attached to them. wrapped entirely in a dense, curly bouclé, the surface reads almost like fleece, catching light in its texture and softening the boundaries between the forms even further. the form reads differently from every angle. from the front, the outward tilt of the arms gives the chair an open, almost welcoming stance, while from above, the volumes arrange themselves like soft stones gathered around the seat.
