The Complete Calendar - Omega Cosmic Moonphase from 1947 Introduced in 1947, the Omega Cosmic represented one of the manufacture’s most sophisticated wristwatches of the period. Combining a triple calendar with moonphase indication, it brought an impressive level of mechanical complexity into an elegant and highly wearable case. This early Ref. 2471-1 from 1947 is particularly charming. Its 35 mm stainless steel case houses an untouched cream dial that has developed a strong, warm, and even patina over nearly eight decades. Day and month appear through twin apertures in the upper half, while the moonphase sits beautifully within the large sub-seconds register at six. A contrasting blue date chapter ring and blued steel pointer date hand complete the wonderfully complex yet balanced layout. Inside beats the Omega Cal. 27 DL PC, a manually wound calendar and moonphase movement based on a Lemania architecture. Its combination of day, date, month, moonphase, and small seconds made the Cosmic one of Omega’s most complicated watches of its era.
