Lesson: Movement and Labor

Movement and Labor is a 90-minute secondary Social Studies lesson that teaches students to analyze “history from below.” Using a specialized Analyzing Sources for Power graphic organizer and the oral history of Chicana historian Antonia Castañeda, students learn to distinguish between institutional records and personal narratives to uncover the stories of migrant labor and cultural resilience in Washington State.
