WWII German Hitler Jugend Oberbann 1 Leader’s Visor Cap

Original Pre World War Two German Hitler Jugend (HJ) Oberbann 1 Leader’s Visor Cap with Originally applied Insignia and RZM tag. This Early Hitler Youth Leader’s Visor dates between 1934 and 1937 and represents a HJ leader of Oberbann 1, a regional leadership level within the hierarchically structured HJ organization. The Hitler Youth was founded in 1926 and developed after the Nazi seizure of power in 1933 into a state-sponsored and from 1936 effectively mandatory youth organization of the National Socialist regime. Uniforming played a central role in the indoctrination and militarization of youth. The service clothing was deliberately modeled on military examples and was intended to convey discipline, order, and belonging. This service cap was manufactured from light brown cloth, the characteristic color of the HJ uniform, which distinguished itself from the black uniform of the SS and the brown uniform of the SA. The red piping indicated membership in the Oberbann, a middle leadership level of the HJ hierarchy. The organization was divided into various units: Kameradschaften (comradeships), Scharen (troops), Gefolgschaften (followings), Stämme (tribes), Banne (districts), and Oberbanne (superior districts), with the Oberbann comprising several Banne and typically representing a larger geographical area. The early insignia dates the cap to the period between 1934 and approximately 1937, before later modifications were made to the badges. Oxidation is present from the HJ diamond into the cap itself indicating this is the originally applied insignia! The technical features comply with the regulations of the Reich Youth Leadership, as confirmed by the RZM label (Reichszeugmeisterei - Reich Equipment Office) indicates central control and approval of manufacturers. The RZM was founded in 1929 and controlled the production and distribution of uniforms and insignia for the NSDAP and its formations.
