Burfoot Amarena

This dahlia originated right here at Burfoot Flowers, and you’ll only find it here for it’s 2026 release! At first glance, Burfoot Amarena appears simply sweet, but as you look closer each exquisite detail comes to life. Amarena’s petals are beautifully sculpted into soft waves and outlined with striking picottee. The creamy pink petal face has subtle, pale peach brushstrokes, and the rich cherry reverse brings a lovely texture and depth to the bloom. It’s these details that consistently catch and hold my attention— The closer you look, the more beautiful Amarena becomes. Amarena’s 5” bloom is lush with petals, on long dark stems above handsome, deep green foliage. The plant is 4’ tall, and requires support for those long stems. Centers are typically closed, opening for the bees as the bloom fades. My favorite way to enjoy Amarena is in the garden, with a steaming cup of tea in hand. In fact Amarena is the first dahlia we are releasing as a garden dahlia rather than a cut flower. While it isn’t a slam dunk cut flower, with special handling to protect this delicate bloom, Amarena can be used to beautiful effect in special arrangements, and is always a joy on the kitchen counter. This dahlia hasn’t been tested in a diversity of growing environments. Based on my observations, I wouldn’t recommend it for high heat growing, or climates with heavy summer rains.
