[Pre-Order] Jade Gross Piano Piano 2024
Piano, piano meaning “slowly, slowly” in Italian, is the first wine I made when I began. This is the 6th cuvée of this plot. As one of the backbones of the project is maintaining a socio-economic relationship with local grapes growers; this wine is a result of the long-term collaboration of learning, experimenting and ultimately developing better vineyard practices to show its’ sense of place in the most honest way possible. The grapes are sourced from one single co-planted 40 year-old vineyard in Laliende, San Vicente de la Sonsierra. The bush vines grow over alluvial soils at an altitude of 450 meters. It is not protected by any nearby mountain and thus alongside the summer heat and the stony soils, the growing season is short; making it one of, if not the first, vineyard to be harvested. On September 19th 2024, the grapes were hand-harvested. 30% of the grapes were left whole-bunch. Fermentation took place in open-top vessels. The wine then aged in French oak barrels, mostly 500 liters, for 12 months. Production bottle: 2350 bottles
