Not far from the center of Tolmin, at Sotočje Beach—named after the confluence of the Soča and Tolminka rivers—you can rent a SUP, mini raft or a kayak and enjoy a pleasant paddle on the Soča River lake, created by the Podselo hydroelectric dam. Just upstream from the beach, the river slows down and flows into the lake, creating calm waters that allow for easy paddling in both directions—all the way to the village of Most na Soči, about 5 kilometers away. There, you can choose to continue a little farther along the Soča River or turn into the scenic Idrijca River canyon, which extends a few kilometers upstream to the train station. You can also rent a watercraft for a shorter period and explore the immediate surroundings of the beach. SUPs, kayaks, and mini rafts are suitable for river exploration, recreation, or simply relaxing on the water. They are also an excellent choice for families with children, offering a fun and safe way for kids to enjoy the water and connect with nature through play.
