Phemeranthus calycinus Common names include Largeflower Flameflower, Largeflower Fameflower, Fame Flower, and Rock Pink. Largeflower Flameflower is a Texas native perennial which often grows in extremely well-drained, rocky soils, rocks, sandy soils and glades in full sun. Allow soil to dry completely then deeply water about every 7-10 days. Often found growing in large colonies in the wild. Featuring pink to red flowers with 5-8 petals on leafless stems up to 8" tall. The foliage is sparce, very narrow linear, succulent type leaves. Flowers usually open at noon and stay open until mid-afternoon. It's also deer resistant!
