Sufferings of the World Print
I made this print a while ago, and when I redid it here, I changed it quite a bit including the addition of much more text. I am right now rereading Franz Kafka’s "The Castle". I first read it about 20 years ago and decided to revisit recently because I have been burning through books lately and didn’t have anything else handy when I was going to sleep one night. This time around is so profoundly different from the last. The first time I read it , it was much more challenging, almost like William Faulkner’s work or Virginia Wolfe’s. This time however I find it really easy and extremely funny. I don’t think I was really understanding it the last time. I thought of it as a dour, unhappy slog that K was going through, but this time he seems to be enjoying this odd game theory battle with the opponents of the Castle. I recommend it. Here are the words as they appear on this poster: "You can hold yourself back from the sufferings of the world That is something you are free to do and it accords with your nature But perhaps this very holding back is the one suffering you could avoid Suffering is the positive element in this world Indeed it is the only link between this world And the positive" This is Certified Organic Intelligence Art! Everything about this print celebrates human creativity. It begins with a real person using good old-fashioned paper and pencil to create the entire piece. It’s then locally printed by a skilled artisan and carefully packaged by our team before being delivered to you. We sincerely thank you for your support!
