Tulip Stachio Shirt
Brooklyn-based Chinese-American artist Rose Wong works across illustration, books, ceramics and textiles, reducing familiar natural forms to their clearest shapes. Here, her tulips are translated from drawing into cloth through large, raw-edged cotton appliqué. Two stems rise from the hem, with smaller inverted flowers worked across the collar. Visible stitching and lightly frayed edges preserve the directness of Rose’s original forms. The shirt is cut from a 160gsm cotton twill with an unusually soft, almost peach-like handle. Our Stachio shape is relaxed and boxy, with an open collar, straight hem and short side slits. Part of the Artist Series.
