5 June 2026 --- Ralph We have a bunch of Fabrics available now, and will be offering more later this year. If you need a SMALL amount of any Fabric not shown as in stock, let us know. Our Fabrics are all 100% wool, 100% virgin wool, and 100% USA. Our labels read "100% WeatherWool Certified Fine Wool" because we have a lot to say about our Fabrics, the fiber from which it is made, where that fiber comes from and how that fiber is turned into WeatherWool. All Fabrics are made from the same fiber. At this point, we manufacture four types of Fabrics, and five colors. A lot of choices and allocating resources is becoming complicated. ALL our Fabrics are made from the same WeatherWool Certified Fine Wool. FullWeight Jacquard Weave: True Black; Classic Brown; Drab Green; Lynx Pattern; Natural White MidWeight Jacquard Weave: True Black, Drab Green; Lynx Pattern; Natural White Denim Weave: Classic Brown, Charcoal; Indigo; Moss Green; Natural White Heritage (Simple Weave), 100% Worsted Fabric: True Black; Drab Green; Natural White, which is really more of a cream color. I have been wearing a Natural White Heritage Shirt for over two years and I'm very happy with it. It's cool enough for warm weather but also remarkably warm for how light it is. We developed Heritage for pockets and similar construction uses, and it has been working really well for that originally-intended purpose Our Natural White Fabrics are unbleached and undyed, and actually more of a cream color than true white ... the natural color of what the industry refers to as "white wool" or "white sheep". WeatherWool Jacquard Fabric, FullWeight and MidWeight, is $125 per running yard WeatherWool Denim is $115 per running yard WeatherWool Heritage is $105 per running yard WeatherWool Whipcord is $125 per running yard A running yard is always 36 inches (91.4 cm) long: Bolts of MidWeight and FullWeight Fabric vary in width from 52 inches (132 cm) to 55 inches (140 cm), including about .75 inches (almost 2 cm) of selvedge on each side. The exact width varies a little from bolt to bolt even within a batch of the same Fabric because the bolts are "finished" separately. The MidWeight Fabrics will have two or three bright-yellow non-wool yarns in the selvedge to distinguish them from FullWeight. This yellow yarn can be pulled out if you want to use the selvedge Bolts of Denim, Whipcord and Heritage are 60 inches (152 cm) wide with under 1/2 inch (1 cm) selvedge on each side Orders for more than one yard are normally shipped as one piece. (Incidentally, when people reference "weight" of woolen fabric, at least in USA, they are almost always referring to the weight of a running yard. But there is no standard width to a running yard, so comparisons are meaningless unless the weight is quoted as "ounces per square yard" (opsy) or "grams per square meter" (gsm). But anyway, weight does not indicate performance. Better fiber, spinning, weaving and finishing can offer greater performance and less weight.) For detailed info about our Fabric please visit: The WeatherWool Difference WeatherWool Fabric FullWeight - MidWeight WeatherWool Denim WeatherWool Heritage WeatherWool Whipcord When we founded WeatherWool, fabric that met our specs was simply not available for purchase. So we spent three years developing our own unique 100% Merino Jacquard Hardcore Luxury® Fabric, the foundation of our company. WeatherWool Fabric is chosen for luxury and fashion in the cityscape ... and chosen for performance in the most demanding of field conditions. As of 2024, we are offering Denim and Heritage, made from the same fiber (same raw wool) as the Jacquard Fabrics, but woven on a Dobby Loom. The Denim is a true denim weave, and Heritage is a plain weave. More info at the links above. Selvedge, also known as selvage, is the “extra” fabric running along the edges of the entire length of a bolt of Fabric. The selvedge (originally "self-edge") contains the same premium yarn as the rest of the bolt, and it can be used, although it looks a little different. We used the selvedge in our Poncho, for example, and we used the width of the entire bolt of Fabric. Selvedge Denim has become extremely popular although this is a different meaning of the word Selvedge. Fabric needs to be ordered by the whole yard (which is 36 inches / 91.4 cm). We love that people make things with our Fabric. One caution ... make sure you order enough. Much better to have extra than to come up short. Our Fabric is the heart of what we do, and has gained the attention of other clothing makers. However, we no longer offer Fabric for commercial purposes ... that is, we generally do not allow resale of our Fabric. But if you are an individual looking to make something with our Fabric, we are interested to hear your plans. One warning, however ... people frequently get an idea to make something, but underestimate the difficulty of execution. We always refund people who want a refund, but I definitely take a dim view when someone changes his mind after a year or two and wants a refund for what is now basically a small remnant. We have a Collaborations page on this website, and we love hearing people's ideas for our Fabrics. Chance Painter, one of the featured Mountain Men on History Channel's long-running series, shared this video of a dress his wife Soraya had sewn from some Charcoal Denim Fabric Debby sent. We love seeing what people make with our fabric so please do send photos and videos. NOTE FOR DO-IT-YOURSELFERS: We frequently hear from people who want to make things themselves. These folks, unless they have significant experience, often underestimate the difficulty of garment-making, or overestimate their own energy and time. They will also often assume there will be a tailor who will do the work, and that is also far from a given. We refund everyone who requests a refund, but I've added this note because Fabric separated is not helpful here. Thank You! --- Ralph Care and Cleaning
