What makes it different Every other bed in this group uses parallel lines — vertical channels, horizontal bands, square panels. The Sunburst is the only one where the padding runs on the diagonal, and that changes how it behaves under light. Parallel channels catch light uniformly; radiating panels catch it at a different angle at every point on the fan, so the headboard shows a gradient of light and shade rather than an even stripe. It looks noticeably different at a bedside lamp than under a ceiling light. The gold frame The metallic border is the only hard, non-upholstered element in this group. Two things follow: It commits the room to warm metals. Brass or gold lamp bases, handles and mirror frames will look intentional alongside it; chrome and brushed steel will fight it. It gives a crisp edge that upholstery alone cannot, which is what stops a large patterned headboard from looking soft-edged and shapeless. Scale and proportion This is the boldest headboard here, and it needs room to be read. A sunburst pattern compressed into a narrow wall run loses its symmetry. It works best on a full wall with clear space either side, and against plain walls — patterned wallpaper behind a radial headboard is one pattern too many. Measure floor-to-obstruction before ordering; tall headboards commonly conflict with sills, radiator shelves and picture rails.
