Center Medallion Star Quilt

This is a perfectly conceived and executed central Lemoyne Star quilt. The star is created with large triangles that are repeated outside of the central frame. Although they are actually the same, the exterior triangles "read" as Hourglasses or Bowties. The quilt is finely stitched with several patterns. Outermost is a cable pattern. The interior bands are finely done with feather designs. The curvilinear quilting patterns are a nice complement to the geometry of the piecing. The quilt is a beautiful, soft shade of blue. It was made circa 1920 in Pennsylvania. Measurements are 72" x 74". Condition is excellent.
