Named for Erté, the Art Deco illustrator whose whole language was a single unbroken line. Drapery curling around a figure, never stopping, holding the body inside it. This ring does the same thing in gold. Two fluted arms sweep past each other and cradle an elongated old mine cut lab grown diamond, set east to west so the stone lies long across the finger. There are no claws reaching up and no gallery underneath. The band arrives, wraps, and carries on. The old mine cut is the antique one. A small table, a high crown, and broad chunky facets that throw big slow flashes of light rather than the fine glitter of a modern stone. It is the cut the 1920s knew, held here in a band that is pure 1970s. Those are the two decades most of this studio's work comes from, and this is the clearest place they meet.
