Rustic Biljik Khal Mohammadi Kasha Wool Rug - 3'4'' x 4'9''

Deep red and unmistakably handmade, this rustic Khal Mohammadi rug in dark red and blue comes from the weavers of northern Afghanistan, who knot each piece by hand from hand-spun wool and color it with vegetable dyes. It is a warm, luxurious anchor for traditional and modern rooms alike. The Biljik design shows stylized floral motifs and a geometric layout that draws its inspiration from nature, repeated across the field in a rhythm that rewards a closer look. The name comes from Khal Mohammad, a weaver credited with the style, and the rugs that carry it are known for dense knotting, deep color, and careful craftsmanship. Natural vegetable dyes from madder root, indigo, and walnut husks, together with hand-spun wool and the Turkish (Ghiordes) double knot, give the rug its depth of color and its durability. The palette brings together dark red, blue and black, so it is easy to match with the colors already in your room. Deep, warm, and easy to pair, this rug gives a room a collected, heirloom feel. It is a good fit for an entryway, a bedroom, a kitchen, or a spot in front of a favorite chair. It suits traditional, transitional, and modern interiors, and the dark hues hide everyday wear well.
