A konbini is a Japanese convenience store (more on konbini here). This is a miniature of that storefront sign, 10 cm wide, with an LED inside and a magnet on the back, so you can put it on your fridge. Does it need batteries or a plug? Neither. It has a built-in 300 mAh rechargeable battery. You charge it with the included USB-C cable and then it works cordless. How long does a charge last? 8 to 12 hours of continuous light. A full charge takes 1 to 2 hours over USB-C. How big is it? 10 cm wide, 3 cm tall and 2.6 cm deep, and about 45 g. It is designed to sit on a fridge door without taking over the whole thing. Will it stay on my fridge? Yes. The magnet on the back holds on any steel fridge door. If your fridge is stainless steel with a non-magnetic finish, or if you want to mount it on a wall, use the adhesive magnetic sheet that comes in the box. Why some stainless fridges don't hold magnets. Can I change the colour? Yes. Tap the sign to cycle through 3 colours, hold it to switch between 3 ambiance modes. Can I turn the light off and keep it as a normal magnet? Yes. With the LED off it works as a regular fridge magnet. Which design should I choose? Most people choose all three: a row of three lit signs reads as a tiny Japanese street, and the set costs less per magnet. 7-Eleven vs Lawson vs FamilyMart compared. Is it a good gift? It ships in a printed gift box. It is a common gift for anyone who has travelled to Japan, is learning Japanese, or is planning a trip. More ideas in our gift guide for Japan lovers.
