Everything you need to brew Costa Rican coffee the traditional way: a handmade chorreador in plantation teak, plus three extra standard cloth filters. The set costs less than buying the two separately and ships free with standard U.S. shipping. What's Included 1 handmade Costa Rica chorreador in plantation teak with a beeswax finish, 9.5 inches high and 4.75 inches wide, with 1 cloth filter 3 standard cloth coffee filters in unbleached cotton, each with a 3.5-inch wire ring and a 5-inch sock Why Four Filters A cotton filter lasts several months with daily use. With four in the drawer, you can rotate them, let each one dry fully between brews, and keep a fresh one ready when an old one starts tasting off. How It Brews Set the stand over your mug and hang a cloth filter in the ring. Pre-wet the cloth with hot water. Add about 20 g of medium-coarse ground coffee. Pour roughly 50 g of water at 90–96 °C and let it bloom for 30 seconds. Pour the rest slowly, 240–300 g of water in total. The whole brew takes 3–4 minutes. Filter Care Rinse each filter in hot water after brewing and let it dry. Now and then, simmer it in a pot of plain water to lift built-up oils. Never use soap: cotton absorbs it and the coffee picks up the taste. More brewing help is in our chorreador brewing guide and FAQ.
