A one-of-a-kind lidded vessel by ceramic artist Bob Smith, created using the rare ferric chloride Raku technique. Fiery red, amber and orange tones move across a dramatic crackled surface, while the removable lid and small sculptural feet give this piece its distinctive form. Ferric chloride Raku is practiced by very few potters. Intense heat, ferric chloride, smoke and straw help create spontaneous surface markings that can never be exactly duplicated.
