Skywalk Chili6 – high-end intermediate glider The Skywalk CHILI6 marks the beginning of the next generation of Skywalk’s high-end Intermediate series. The goal was to develop a wing that helps pilots fly better. The result is an XC wing that delivers calmness, control and precise feedback, even in demanding conditions. Because true performance is not just about what a wing can achieve, but about how effectively that performance can be used. This High-B wing brings together state-of-the-art simulation tools, decades of development experience, and the instinctive precision of Skywalk’s designers and test pilots. The CHILI6 raises the bar in the High-B segment – combining performance, efficiency, and accessibility in a new way. 2.5-Line Concept Three line levels in the centre and two toward the wingtips combine the control and efficiency of a 2-liner with the familiar handling of a 3-liner. High Profile Stability The newly developed profile and optimized tension distribution minimize the pilot workload in turbulent conditions. Speed Control When accelerated, the CHILI6 can be controlled via the risers more comfortably, precisely and with less effort than any CHILI before. Winglets The winglets increase roll stability and directional stability, supporting calm and efficient flight behavior. Efficient Aerodynamics Double 3D shaping, a specially designed leading edge, additional strings, miniribs and the reduced line layout at the wingtips create a clean surface and reduce overall drag. 304 km FAI Triangle The CHILI6 already showed its potential during development: Stephan Gruber flew a 304 km FAI triangle in demanding conditions. With the CHILI6, we’ve brought state-of-the-art simulation technology and our long-standing development expertise together in perfect synergy. SKYWALK CHILI 6 FEATURES: JET FLAPS: Our JET FLAPS extend the green arc as you approach the stall point, which substantially increases safety and also improves climb performance. SHARK NOSE: Together with a corresponding wing design, the shark nose technology improves pressure distribution in the canopy substantially. Advantages: much more solid flying feeling and substantial performance gain, especially when gliding on bar. RIGID FOIL: Nylon wires wires keep the leading edge and the profile in shape and ensure a more constant ram air pressure. Advantages: better take-off behaviour and more performance. 3D-SHAPING: A precise calculation of the leading edge geometry and the installation of an additional strip of fabric reduce wrinkling in this sensitive part of the glider. Advantages: exact wing shape, more performance. MINI RIBS: Doubling the number of cells at the trailing edge increases its shape stability substantially. Advantage: fewer vortices improve the aerodynamics and with it the performance. WINGLETS: The winglets increase roll stability, enhance re-centering the canopy, improve spiral exit behavior, and reduce induced drag. The result: greater safety and a noticeable performance boost. SAND RELEASE SYSTEM 2.0: Porous openings of the profile ribs at the trailing edge ensure that sand and dirt in the glider are automatically guided to the wingtip where they can trickle out. This helps preserve the material and “relieves” the trailing edge. SMART LINK SYSTEM: Colour-coded seams on the risers to ensure that the risers are connected correctly and without being twisted. red = left; blue = right SPEED CONTROL: Riser steering system which allows the pilot to even out turbulence, speed and pitch while flying on speed bar without having to release the speed bar.
