Description Score: 94 pts - James Suckling Chacra Roka Malbec 2021 is the Malbec of Bodega Chacra, the Patagonian estate founded in 2004 in the Río Negro Valley by Piero Incisa della Rocchetta, grandson of the founder of Tenuta San Guido, home of Sassicaia. Best known for its Pinot Noirs from old, ungrafted vineyards, Chacra made Roka as its first venture into Malbec, following the same organic and biodynamic principles. The 2021 was raised for nine months in a mix of concrete tanks, French oak barrels and stainless steel, keeping the focus on fruit and freshness. "Dark and generous, it offers ripe plum and juicy wild berries lifted by violets, over a damp-earth undertone. Fresh and fruit-driven on the palate, it finishes clean and lively."
