๐ŸŒณ Arborist Natural aesthetic; unnatural performance It blends into your workspace seamlessly, with a classy wood slatted front and non-RGB-lit design. You might even say it looks like bespoke furniture rather than computer hardware. Arborist is black steel, woodgrain and one sheet of glass, with not a single lit component anywhere inside it. Behind that restraint is an RTX 5070 Ti with 16GB of GDDR7 and an Intel i5-14600KF: 1440p with everything turned on, and 4K held comfortably. What makes it possible at this price is DDR4 on an Intel platform. Memory pricing has gone mad this year and DDR4 didn't get inflated quite as hard, so the money went into the graphics card instead. This is very likely the last RTX 5070 Ti machine we can make work under ยฃ2k - so if this is your graphics card of choice, it may be wise to invest now. This PC is already built and ready to ship. The catch? Just one in stock, and it will not be restocked. Our already-built PCs take advantage of supplier deals, which we pass onto you, but aren't repeatable ad infinitum ๐Ÿงฌ Built to last, designed to evolve Built on Intel's LGA1700 platform. We'll be straight about what that means: this is a mature socket rather than a current one, so it's a machine to upgrade within rather than to build forward from. What you get in exchange is the whole reason it costs what it does, because a B760 board and DDR4 memory together cost a fraction of the current-generation equivalent and the difference in a game is not something you'd feel. Inside the machine there's plenty of room to move: two free memory slots, a free M.2 slot, five free fan mounts and 850W of supply behind a 300W card. ๐Ÿ“ƒ Specifications ๐Ÿง  CPU: Intel Core i5-14600KF Click or tap for deeper spec info 14 cores and 20 threads: 6 performance cores to 5.3GHz and 8 efficient cores to 4.0GHz, with 24MB of L3 cache. 125W base power, up to 181W at full turbo Well matched to the card in front of it. In current testing this chip sits level with AMD's Ryzen 5 9600X in games and a little ahead of the 7700X, which means it keeps out of the graphics card's way at 1440p and 4K. That's what a processor's job is at this tier The 8 efficient cores are why it handles a game, a stream and a browser full of tabs without any of them noticing each other Shipped on the current BIOS, which is what matters here. Intel's 13th and 14th generation desktop chips had a well-publicised voltage issue a couple of years back, addressed through a series of microcode updates. We update to the latest BIOS running Intel's own default power and voltage limits, which is exactly what Intel themselves recommend, and then goes through our full torture test before it ships. Nothing to think about The F suffix means no integrated graphics, which you don't need with a card fitted and which is why it costs less. One practical consequence is in the motherboard notes below The 181W peak is comfortably inside what the cooler fitted here handles โ„๏ธ CPU cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 140 Black, dual tower air cooler Click or tap for deeper spec info 158mm tall, two towers on 6 copper heatpipes of 6mm, with a 120mm fan on the memory side and a 140mm fan in the middle, both PWM to 1500rpm Independently measured at around 246W of sustained cooling capability, against a processor whose own published ceiling is 181W. That is not a cooler being asked to work hard, and it's why the fans stay slow The asymmetric fan arrangement is deliberate: the smaller 120mm fan sits over the memory rather than across it, so standard-height modules clear it without the fan needing to be raised Plain black, with no lighting at all. On a build with nothing lit anywhere, an illuminated cooler would have been the only thing you noticed through the glass Mounted with Thermalright's own TF7 paste, applied by hand rather than using a pre-applied pad, and the fan curve set before it ships ๐Ÿ”ฒ Motherboard: MSI B760 GAMING PLUS WIFI DDR4 (ATX) Click or tap for deeper spec info Intel B760 on a full ATX board, socket LGA1700, with a 12+1+1 power arrangement fed by an 8-pin and a 4-pin CPU connector Four DDR4 slots supporting up to 128GB, and only two are used. That's unusual at this price and it's the reason memory is a straightforward addition on this machine rather than a replacement job. XMP is enabled, so the memory runs at its rated speed rather than the 2133 it would default to Two M.2 slots, both PCIe 4.0 x4, and one is free. The occupied one runs from the processor directly and sits under MSI's own heatsink. Four SATA ports as well Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 built in with the aerial supplied, plus 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet. Rear I/O includes a 10Gbps USB-C, two 10Gbps USB-A and four USB 2.0 One thing worth knowing before you plug anything in: the HDMI and DisplayPort sockets on the motherboard's rear panel won't do anything, because this processor has no integrated graphics. Your monitor goes into the graphics card, which is where you'd want it anyway. It catches people out and we'd rather you heard it from us PC36 only uses motherboards chosen for stability and longevity. See our Trusted brands page ๐Ÿ“ Memory / RAM: 32GB (2ร—16GB) DDR4-3200 CL16, Corsair Vengeance Click or tap for deeper spec info A matched pair running dual channel at DDR4-3200 CL16 on its XMP profile, which is the speed this processor officially supports This is where the money for the graphics card came from. DDR5 pricing has roughly trebled this year while DDR4 stayed where it was. At 1440p and 4K, with a card doing this much of the work, the difference between the two in a game is small and the difference in what it costs is not 32GB rather than 16GB is the quiet part of this build. It's what stops you thinking about memory again: a game, a browser with too many tabs, Discord and a capture all running together Two of the four slots are free, so 64GB later is an addition rather than a replacement Plain heatspreaders with no lighting, which is what this build wanted ๐Ÿ’พ Storage: 1TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD (QLC), Biwin NV7200 Click or tap for deeper spec info 7,200MB/s read and 6,200MB/s write, rated for 400TB of writes with a five year warranty The 1TB runs at the same speed as the 2TB and 4TB drives in the range, which is not true of most budget families, where the smallest capacity is usually the slow one QLC flash with a DRAM-less design, which is the honest tier at this price and quick for everything you'll do day to day. It slows only during very long sustained writes, such as moving hundreds of gigabytes in one go Single sided with a graphene heat-spreading label, so it sits neatly under the board's own M.2 heatsink The second M.2 slot is free and runs at the same PCIe 4.0 x4, so adding a drive later costs nothing you've already bought ๐ŸŽฎ Graphics card: NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti 16GB, MSI Shadow 3X OC Click or tap for deeper spec info Blackwell with 8,960 CUDA cores and 16GB of GDDR7 on a 256-bit bus at 896GB/s. 300W board power That bandwidth is the generational story, not the clock speed. The 5070 Ti actually boosts lower than the card it replaces; what it has instead is roughly a third more memory bandwidth and the VRAM to use it, which is what 4K and heavy texture settings actually run out of DLSS 4 with multi frame generation, and the ray tracing hardware to keep path-traced games playable rather than theoretical. NVENC for recording and streaming, which most streaming software is built around. DLSS 5 ready A triple-fan card at 303mm long and 49mm thick, which is roughly two and a half slots and slim enough that NVIDIA class it as SFF-ready. Power comes from a single 16-pin connector, seated and checked by hand as part of our standard build process Three DisplayPort 2.1b outputs and an HDMI 2.1b. Three years of UK warranty on the card, alongside our own ๐Ÿงฐ Case: Thermaltake TR300 WS, Black with woodgrain Click or tap for deeper spec info 467 ร— 205 ร— 419mm on the outside, a little over 40 litres, in SPCC steel with a 3mm tempered glass side panel The woodgrain slats sit over a mesh front rather than over a solid one, so the look and the airflow aren't fighting each other. Dust filters at the top, front, side and bottom, all removable The power supply mounts at the front, not the floor, on an adjustable rack with four positions. It's an unusual layout and a good one: it frees the whole bottom of the case for intake fans, which is where this build puts two of its three Takes ATX, micro-ATX and Mini-ITX boards, with 7 expansion slots. Graphics cards up to 410mm and CPU coolers up to 165mm, so there's real room to change either later Radiator support is 120 to 360mm in the top and 120mm at the rear. Two 3.5 inch and three 2.5 inch drive mounts Front I/O is a 10Gbps USB-C, two USB 3.0 and a combined audio jack ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ Case cooling: 1 ร— 120mm front intake, 2 ร— 140mm bottom intake and 1 ร— 120mm rear exhaust, all black Click or tap for deeper spec info The case ships with one fan. The other three are ours. A 40 litre case running a 300W graphics card on a single rear exhaust would have been a poor way to sell this machine, so it doesn't leave here that way The two 140mm fans underneath are the important ones. With the power supply out of the way at the front, the floor of this case is free, and cool air rising straight into the graphics card from below is the most direct route there is All four are plain black and non-RGB, matched to the rest of the build. Fan curves set by hand before dispatch and verified through our standard stress testing rather than assumed Four fans in 40 litres around a 181W processor and a 300W card is a comfortable job rather than a marginal one, and a dual tower cooler does most of the processor's work without needing to spin quickly โšก Power supply: Corsair RM850e 850W, fully modular Click or tap for deeper spec info Cybenetics Gold efficiency, fully modular, with a 120mm fan that stops entirely at low load 850W against a card that asks for 750W. That headroom means the supply spends its life in the quiet, efficient middle of its range rather than working near its limit, and a considerably faster card later is a straight swap rather than a second purchase Fully modular matters more than usual with the supply mounted at the front of the case, where its cables are in view of the glass rather than hidden under a shroud. Only the cables this build uses are fitted Seven year warranty from Corsair, which is longer than most units at this level and a fair indication of what they expect from it ๐Ÿ”Œ Cabling: Black cabling, routed and tied Click or tap for deeper spec info Black cables throughout, matched to the black interior, routed behind the motherboard tray and tied down The front-mounted supply makes this more work than a conventional layout, because there's no shroud to hide the excess in. That time is included in the price Nothing crosses the bottom intake path or the graphics card's own fans ๐Ÿ“ถ WiFi / Bluetooth / Ethernet: Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, included Click or tap for deeper spec info Built into the MSI B760 GAMING PLUS WIFI DDR4. No separate adapter needed, and the aerial is supplied in the box Wi-Fi 6E adds the 6GHz band, which is usually far less congested than 2.4 and 5GHz if your router supports it 2.5 Gigabit wired Ethernet, which we'd still recommend over wireless for competitive play. To be plain about what that buys you: the extra bandwidth won't make a game feel different, because wired is about latency and consistency rather than speed. Where it earns its place is moving large files to a NAS or another machine on your network ๐ŸชŸ Operating system: As chosen by you from the listing options below. Windows 11 Home (OEM) is recommended. ๐Ÿงน Setup and optimisation: PC36 High-Class Standard. Full stress test with certificate, bloat-free installation, and BIOS set up properly Click or tap for deeper spec info PC36 High-Class Standard, included free with every build Ready the moment you open the box. Your PC boots straight into Windows with a local account already set up. No account sign-in wall, no first-run questionnaire, no half-hour of setup before you can use the machine you just bought BIOS updated and configured properly: latest version, Intel's default power and voltage limits in place, manual fan curves, XMP enabled, Secure Boot enabled Vanilla Windows 11 installation if you choose Windows, with no bloatware added by us, and all drivers loaded and ready to go Full stress test with certificate. Every system is torture tested on CPU, RAM and GPU before dispatch, and ships with the certificate to prove it. The same test our most expensive machines get PC36 Premier Optimisation, available in the listing options CPU tuning to bring thermals and noise down with minimal performance loss, a deeper strip and debloat of Windows, and the case fans tuned by hand for the quietest operation the machine will hold Good value here. A 14600KF responds well to an undervolt, which drops temperature and noise at the same time without costing performance, and with four fans to balance there's real gain in a hand-built profile PC36 Ultimate Performance Tune, available in the listing options Advanced tuning on top of everything in Premier Honest answer on this build: B760 does not permit processor overclocking, so the CPU portion is an undervolt rather than an overclock. The GPU overclock is real and so is a memory tune. Premier is the better value of the two here ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Warranty: 3 years parts & labour (return to base) Click or tap for deeper spec info Standard 3-year coverage included, parts and labour both Optional extended warranties in the listing options below ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Transparency notes Because this one is already built, the specification is fixed (click or tap to read more) Most of what we sell is built to order from a series we can repeat. This is not that, and at this price on this graphics card it isn't something we could repeat anyway. Unlike our built-to-order machines we can't swap the case or the board for you, because this one is already assembled and tested. Memory, storage and cooling can still be changed. Anything else is worth asking about on live chat before you order rather than after. The product images shown are real photographs of this exact PC. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Popular upgrade options This machine is already built, which changes what is possible. Memory, storage and cooling can be changed, along with your choice of operating system, the optimisation tiers and an extended warranty. Everything else is fixed, so anything not listed below is a live chat conversation worth having before you order rather than after. Memory upgrade to 64GB: available in the listing options below. Click or tap for more info Worth it only if you do heavy creative work, run virtual machines, or keep very large projects open alongside a game. For gaming at any resolution, 32GB is already past the point where more helps. Two slots are free, so this is an addition rather than a replacement. Worth asking us on live chat first, because DDR4 pricing means we can usually do better than the dropdown. Storage upgrade: available in the listing options below. Click or tap for more info Worth it if you keep more than a handful of large games installed at once, since modern installs regularly run past 100GB each. You can also defer it, because the second M.2 slot is free and runs at the same speed, so a drive added later costs you nothing you've already bought. Operating system: choose from the listing options below. Click or tap for more info Windows 11 Home is what we recommend for a gaming machine and what almost everyone takes. Pro is worth it only if you need BitLocker, Remote Desktop or domain access. If you'd rather install your own, choose the no-OS option and the machine still arrives with the BIOS configured and tested. PC36 Premier Optimisation: available in the listing options below. Click or tap for more info The tier we'd take on this machine, and the better value of the two. The undervolt drops temperature and noise together rather than trading one for the other, and the deeper Windows strip is included. Extended warranty: available in the listing options below. You'll be talking to one of us, not a chatbot. ๐ŸŽฏ What is this PC best for? 1440p gaming at maximum settings, including heavy ray tracing 4K gaming with DLSS 4, which is what this card is genuinely built around High frame rate competitive gaming at 1080p and 1440p Streaming and recording with NVENC, the encoder most streaming software is built around Rooms where the PC is visible and a black box with lights in it would not be welcome Anyone who wants a machine that's quiet by default rather than quiet after tinkering ๐Ÿ“Š Performance estimates Figures are given at both 1440p and 4K.
