Lot 080 - Pair of Antique Carte De Visite C.D.V. Illustrated Filler Cards, "Seeing the Elephant" And "Showing Her Agility," Comic Risque Omnibus Scenes

Pair of antique carte de visite C.D.V. illustrated filler cards depicting comic risque scenes set around a London omnibus marked "Angel" and "Hyde Park - All the Way for 3D." The first, captioned "Seeing the Elephant," shows a woman in a voluminous crinoline skirt boarding the omnibus, her skirts billowing upward and exposing her legs as a man on the ground below looks up. The second, captioned "Showing her Agility," depicts a woman who has fallen from the omnibus, her skirts and crinoline caught in netting and lifted to expose her legs, while bystanders observe. Both cards share the same omnibus setting and satirize the difficulties of crinoline fashion in public transit. The backs are blank. Both cards show light toning and minor soiling consistent with age. The edges are intact with no significant losses.
