Why copper matters Photosynthesis: copper sits inside plastocyanin, the protein that carries electrons in photosynthesis. Short of copper, the plant makes less sugar and growth slows. Always dilute in water before use, and add it to your reservoir or spray tank after your base nutrients are fully dissolved. Copper is a trace element, so a little goes a long way. Measure with a syringe and do not exceed the rate on the label. Foliar spray: 1 ml per litre of water, every 15 days. Drench or drip: up to 3 ml per litre of water, once a month during flowering and fruiting. Hydroponic reservoirs: hydroponic systems need far less than a soil drench.
