Antique Arts & Crafts Oak Four Drawer External Frame Office File Cabinet

ANTIQUE ARTS & CRAFTS OAK FOUR DRAWER EXTERNAL FRAME OFFICE FILE CABINET With our compliments Bay Colony Antiques takes the utmost pleasure in offering this exceptional antique file cabinet. This particular cabinet can be distinguished among most other antique files made a century ago by the external frame system. A series of vertical posts with obelisk styled ends serve to create a framework which houses four individual drawers. This design is the best adaptation of the Arts & Crafts movement and is completely unique to anything that came before it. The four drawers easily slide within the framework and can be taken out entirely if needed. This feature is important when considering the long term care of the cabinet or the reality of having to move it up a flight of stairs or any great distance. Each drawer is built with a frame and panel design and fitted with an identifying label holder and solid metal handle. The original decal denoting Weiss as the manufacturer has remained in good condition along the top edge in the center. The file cabinet has retained the original finish that has heavily oxidized in some areas and shows some distressing along with transfer marks left behind by several small objects. We note the absence of a file rod within the third file drawer. This antique file cabinet measures 15" wide x 24 1/2" deep x 52 1/2" tall. The inside of each drawer allows for a storage capacity measuring 23" deep x 12" wide x 10" tall.
