The Koshi Earth Symphony Set of 4 contains all four chimes of the new Koshi collection: Mountain in walnut, Forest in oak, River in cherry and Ocean in maple, each with 12 hand-tuned steel rods at 440 Hz, handmade in France. Handcrafted and hand-tuned in the Koshi workshop at the foot of the French Pyrenees. Earth Symphony is a departure from the original Koshi 4 Elements line. Each chime carries twelve hand-tuned steel rods instead of eight, four of them doubled at the same frequency as sympathetic resonators, and the resonance chamber is turned from fine wood rather than bamboo. The tuning reference is 440 Hz. The result is a broader, deeper and noticeably longer resonance. The four melodies were designed to be played alone or in dialogue with one another. They share the same harmonic coherence, so any combination stays in harmony, and together they compose a broad, deep and living soundscape that no single chime can produce on its own. A gentle turn of the wrist lets the central clapper set the rods in motion and release a cascade of broad, deep notes. The wider the movement, the more rods sound. A slow pendulum swing plays individual notes. Played together: the four tunings share the same harmonic coherence, so they can be layered in any order or combination without clashing. Two people can play two chimes at once, or a single practitioner can move between them. In the wind: hang them in a sheltered outdoor spot, for example on a veranda or under a porch, or by an open window, and the breeze plays melodies of its own. Meditation: use one chime to open and another to close a session. Sound therapy and sound yoga: the set sits naturally alongside singing bowls, gongs and other harmonic instruments. Each chime is light enough to carry through the room, letting the sound circulate, mark a change of pace or guide listening toward silence. Recording and musical use: tuned to 440 Hz, the collection accompanies other instruments and voices without retuning.
