Rather than focusing only on Neuwirth’s best-known work, Farrar and Willis have chosen ten songs that reflect the breadth of his musical life. The collection moves from Neuwirth originals including “Beyond the Blues,” “Rock N Roll Time,” “Turn It Around,” “Nashville,” “Travelin Light,” “Just Like You,” “Busted Bottle” and “Dazzled By Diamonds,” to songs that speak to his remarkable history as a collaborator and interpreter. Among them is “Mercedes Benz,” the enduring song Neuwirth co-wrote with Janis Joplin and poet Michael McClure, and “We Had It All,” the Donnie Fritts/Troy Seals song that Neuwirth made part of his own repertoire.
