RIVAROSSI HO Gauge #5428 Union Pacific 4-8-4 Steam Locomotive No.838 Pre-owned in very good condition. Boxed in original box. Steam Locomotive 4-8-4 FEF 3 "Northern" of the "Union Pacific Railroad". The first locomotive FEF 2"800" type Northern was built in 1937 by ALCO. The last one, instead, was the more modern version, FEF 3, in 1944. These class "800 locomotives were essentially designed for passenger service, offering high-speed service, with speeds in normal service of 100 Mph. (approx. 160 K/hr)During the war period, apart from passenger service, particularly troop train service, they also did their part in goods transport due to the massive amounts of war materiel that needed to be moved. From 1946 onwards, while undergoing a major overhaul, Elephant ears, as the passengers tended to refer to them, i.e., the smoke deflectors, were applied to avoid smoke entering the cabin, especially on downhill tracks.
