Scientific name: Cordia alliodora Common Names: Freijo, Laurel blanco, Salmwood Description: Heartwood yellowish to brown, uniform or more or less streaked and variegated; light-colored material not clearly differentiated from sapwood. Luster is medium to high often rich and golden; texture very variable from fine to coarse; grain usually straight to shallowly interlocked; dark-colored specimens have spicy scent otherwise without distinctive odor or taste.. Machines and finishes exceptionally. Region: South America Notes: Dimensional boards are cut from premium kiln dried lumber and surfaced on 2 sides. The grain pattern described in the wood is where the growth pattern of the tree creates irregularities, which create a three-dimensional-looking pattern often called curly, mottled. Due to the nature of wood, no two pieces are alike, and movement, shrinkage, or expansion can occur. Dimensions may vary +/- ⅛" Wood dust has been known to cause allergic reactions among wood workers, therefore sufficient ventilation, dust extraction equipment, and the use of proper respirators and eye protection is essential.
