Large Heavy Kantha Blanket Quilt With Lik Phul Stitching In Forest Green and Pink

Originally made as a light floor covering or seat cover, this heavy kantha quilt is embroidered with intricate Holbein stitches in a zig zag pattern known as Lik Phul (square stitch). This style is a very heavy weight, almost as thick as a woven kilim rug, so it works beautifully draped over a sofa, a bench or on the bed as a thick blanket. The all-over stitching is beautifully done, the bright pink on white on the back creating an overall effect of light pink and the green almost shimmering on the front. Delightfully, it isn’t exactly rectangular. These are the human details that make these kantha quilts so unique.
