Ancient Ivory Handled Ulu
Ancient Ivory Handled Ulu Made by Peter Evans These unique ulus were produced by Pete Evans, known as "BSJ knife maker". Pete passed away in 2015 and is known for his traditional handmade works, creating practical Alaskan blades with rugged character and craftsmanship. These ulus feature ancient ivory handles with a tempered saw blade that were recrafted into a cutting blade, giving new life to hardened steel through traditional workmanship skills. The stand is handcrafted from diamond willow wood. Crescent moon shape 4.75″ Ulu takes its inspiration from the Alaskan blade of the same name — an all-purpose knife traditionally used by Inuit, Yupik, and Aleut women. From skinning, trimming, and cutting large cuts of meat to chopping vegetables, you'll soon understand why this innovative blade was a must-have for life in the arctic. Half-moon shape 4.75" Ulu facilitates a rocking motion, enhancing cutting efficiency and precision. The blade’s curvature allows for versatile motions, making it adept at slicing, dicing, and mincing.
