mui zyu - パラレリズム (Parallelisme)
Bandcamp / Spotify / Apple Music / iTunes / Amazon Music / TIDAL / Deezer / YouTube MP3 and WAV available. London-based artist mui zyu returns with ‘パラレリズム (Parallelisme)’ a bold and playful reinterpretation of Miharu Koshi’s 1984 cult-pop gem. mui zyu discovered the original track while exploring the production work of Haruomi Hosono of Yellow Magic Orchestra, instantly connecting to the eccentric charm and sonic world of this album he made with Miharu Koshi. Drawn to the title track’s distinctive blend of experimental pop and avant-garde sensibility, she reinterpreted the song through her own artistic lens. Honouring the idiosyncratic spirit of the original, mui zyu’s version of ‘パラレリズム (Parallelisme)’ refracts the track through her contemporary art-pop aesthetic. The result is a fresh and transportive reimagining that bridges eras and influences. mui zyu says, "I was blown away when I first heard this album because of its perfect mix of sweet melodies alongside otherworldly textures.. presented in this kinda super slick pop way. I was studying Japanese at the time and thought the title track would be a special song to record. The process of diving into the original production to rearrange the parts was so educational too and only made me love the song more. I haven’t been able to find much information about the record online, or in stores, but I managed to find it on vinyl when we toured in Japan a year ago, it was like finding a precious treasure." ✩ Written by Miharu Koshi ✩ Produced by Eva Liu, Luciano Rossi ✩ Engineered, Mixed & Mastered by Luciano Rossi at Deathford Studios, London UK ✩ Coco Inman - Violin ✩ Eva Liu - Vocals, Guitar & Glockenspiel ✩ Luciano Rossi - All additional instruments and programming
