In this fun and creative class, you'll be guided through the entire process, from selecting and preparing vibrant pheasant feathers to assembling them to create your own lei hulu. Lum-Nelmida will share tips, techniques, and cultural insights that will deepen your knowledge for this unique art form. Lei Humupapa is a style of Hawaiian feather work that involves a “flat stitch” technique of hand-sewing feathers to a flat base surface. Hat bands are primary examples of this style of lei hulu.
