OP015: Opuntia polyacantha 'Taylor's Red' COLD HARDY CACTUS
One of the best RED flowering Opuntias from Claude Barr's collection. Collected originally near Cheyenne-Wells, Colorado. Deep reddish-pink flowers in June with contrasting, glowing yellow stamens. Short, pure white spines. Compact habit. 6" high by 24" wide. Zone 4. Sold as a rooted pad in 2.5" pots. Allan Taylor, plantsman extraordinaire, introduced hundreds of new plants to the garden. He was particularly fond of oaks, manzanitas, conifers, and cacti. The American West was his playground. Allan passed away in 2023.
