History of the Permanent Collection In 1963, Masur Museum made its first acquisition: Immanence by Ida Kohlmeyer, a New Orleans-based artist who was studying under Mark Rothko when she submitted to Masur’s first juried competition. Since then, Masur has built a collection of over 500 art objects, including works by internationally renowned artists. The Museum is committed to preserving and presenting important artworks from around the world, with special attention to acquiring contemporary artworks made locally within the Northeastern Louisiana region.
